At last the weather was with us and the first Foamy comp took place.
Weather was good for this months Foamy comp, clear sky's and a moderate breeze. We had 3 guests from an associated club, Meon Valley Soaring Association. Welcome to Jim Hathaway, Tony Robinson and Seb. Well done to Phil, back on form after a poor first round, Tony back on his feet and joined the comp this time. See you all in May.
The first of the BMFA Southern Region open competitions was flown on Sunday 20th of May 2018. Congratulations to Chris Foss first place.
The 3rd round of the Foamy was flown in first class conditions, congratulations to Phil Goldsmith who won by a small margin.
The 2nd round of the BMFA eSoaring hosted by Alton Silent Flyers flown on Sunday 17th June, congratulations to Mike Raybone who won by a small margin.
The 4th round of the Foamy was flown in in good conditions, congratulations to Terry Weeks who won by a small margin.
The 5th round of the Foamy was flown in in Sunday the 15th July with plenty of thermals and plenty of max scores. Congratulations again to Terry Weeks, once again winning by a small margin.
The 7th and last for 2018, round 6 was cancelled. The final Foamy was flown on Sunday the 9 th of September. Thanks to everyone for turning out for the comp. Even though the breeze was a trifle more than we would have wished for it was still a good days flying. It was odd that no one landed out which is unusual as even when we have near perfect conditions there's often an OOF. Perhaps the strong breeze kept us all on our toes a bit more!
