A good days thermalling was had by everyone. We were blessed with absolutely perfect weather, with a rain shower not arriving until everyone had packed up after a bit of sport flying and most had gone home. Fairly uneventful except for one model being tree'd at speed but amazingly not damaged, and one very honest competitor asking for his height limiter to be checked which turned out to be set to 300 meters! Names of both withheld to avoid any threat of legal action relating to deformation of character. Thanks to Phil for running the Comp in the absence of Tony.
Club Open 4th June 2017
Well done to Terry P for the Win with 4976, followed by Bert with 4829 and in Terry W with 4802.All in all the day was not one of the easiest with winds around 12 mph, but more than that the air was hard to read. Some of the time it was very gusty and with some very strong lift in places (with equally strong sink if you found it) all resulting in making the air turbulent at times. It was this turbulence which made landing very difficult catching some out resulting in minor damage. Bill was on for a very good day with a 2944 3 round score, but a broken servo arm cut short his day. Both Tony and Phil lost rounds due to damaged models as the score sheet shows.
4th Round eSoar 18 June 2017
5 rounds were flown and a discard allowed so 4 flights to count.
Terry Weeks managed to take the honors on the day even though he flew well he landed out in the third round so a zero score was recorded. This was due to a servo playing up, however he was able to land safely without any damage. Glyn took second place and Bill came in third. All in all a good days flying but boy was it hot.

5th Round Foamy 27 August 2017
The weather was perfect for the comp with just a light breeze for most of the day. Unfortunately the planned entry of six competitors was reduced to five as Terry W had a problem pre-comp with his model and had to withdraw.
There was a good mix of lift and sink although the sink seemed a lot easier to find and was also more aggressive than the lift. Glyn flew the perfect five rounds winning all of his slots, but due to the rough justice of having to discard one score it left him in equal first place with Phil who was sitting on a score of 4000 after his discard of 651. Third place was another tie with John and Bill having the same score and Terry P coming home in fifth place having had to fly his reserve model.
